It is important to understand how the Ancient Near Eastern people thought and behaved  as part of their culture.  There were no clocks or calendars, time and details were not significant.  For example, Their treatment of women is foreign and offensive to our way of thinking.  However, when you understand the status of women at the time, the meaning of the scriptural passage becomes clear, even though it is still offensive to us.   Scripture   1 Cor 11:7-12
